Early Run

This weekend we are in Mt. Vernon again, staying with my parents because we had another wedding to film. The wedding was yesterday, Saturday, and we had to film not only the wedding and reception but also the bridal party getting ready. That meant that I had to be at the hair salon to meet the bride at 9:00 am. Which also meant that I had to get up extra early to get my 4 mile run in!

It was a rough night with both Ava and Grace's sleep scheudules off from the ride down, so I didn't get much sleep. When the alarm went off at 6:15 I decided to go back to sleep and just do my run Sunday morning because we didn't have anything planned for that day. However, by 6:30 I dragged myself out of bed. I haven't missed one workout since I started and I wasn't going to today.

I've been questioning, as you know, the accuracy of my ipod - the distance it records as well as the pace it claims I am running. So I asked my dad, an avid runner, what a 4 mile run would be here in MTV. He told me to run to Burger King and back. So after my toast and peanut butter, I took off. And sure enough my ipod said that Burger King was 2 miles out. Hmmmm...maybe it's not that far off. The run itself was really nice. It was a beautiful morning, the air was crisp, sky blue, not many cars out yet. I loved it. But the best part was when I finished in 34 minutes some odd seconds. This means that I was averaging less than a 9 minute mile pace. I just can't believe that it's possible my ipod has been correct all along. Maybe somehow this time I am actually becoming a runner instead of a jogger?
