Getting Back On Track (I hope!)

Well I've been out of town for the weekend and things are looking better...I hope! Thursday I got new shoes and after a 30 minute shoe fitting from an adorable 17 year old boy, I am now in comfy shoes that should help prevent injuries. I was supposed to run 4 miles that night but my shins and ankles were still bothering me and Jeff's parents wanted to take us out for dinner. So instead of running, we just got in the hot tub. For my legs, of course!

Friday we took off for Mt. Vernon only to leave again on Saturday for Cleveland. I woke up early Saturday morning for an 8 mile run. I was nervous about my shoes, my shins, and I had come down with a cold/fever the day before and didn't know if I was over it. However I had a really enjoyable run. My dad gave me a belt thingy to carry a water bottle of gatorade, my cell phone, and a packet of GU with me. I ran all over Mt. Vernon. From my parents house to the Career Center, up Edgewood to Krogers, around by the pool to Dan Emmett, around the neighborhood and back. (That part's for me in case I need to do that run again in the future.) I felt pretty stiff starting out but after the first mile I felt great! I only stopped and walked to drink or take my GU, which by the way was disgusting. I only got about half of it down!

On Sunday, I still did strength training right there in the hotel room. Ah...the benefits of resistance bands!

Today I was supposed to run 3 miles of hills. I got out too late due to grocery shopping and an unexpected guest stopping by. Time just got away from me. So I only ran 30 minutes of hills. Again I felt real stiff starting out and then loosened up. However my left ankle and knee are bothering me now that I'm done.
