Today was 3 miles of hills. I really like doing hill repeats...crazy I know. But at least that way I know that I'm getting the best hill workout I can get. I picked another hill close to my home. It's about a quarter mile long, starts off a gradual climb, then gets steep in the middle, and then finishes gradual again. After reading my Runners World mag today I learned I should be doing hill repeats at a running intesity of a 7. (1 being walking, 4 jogging, 7 is hard but consistent, 10 is as fast as you can.) So I concentrated on running as hard as I could at a pace that I could sustain for the whole hill. I felt strong and good that I was actually doing something delibrate. Again, last time I trained for a marathon it was just a hodge podge, no real purpose to each workout. Anyway, I ran hard up the hills then jogged down. I finished the three miles at the bottom of the hill and felt like pushing myself so I went once more back up the hill then jogged home. It was another great run.
Yesterday was another strength training day. And it was another night of working out while watching Wiggles with Ava. You do what you have to do!
