Not Feeling Great

Well tonight was not the best running experience. Two painful events happened before I had even left my neighborhood. I was to go out for a nice "easy" 6 mile run. For whatever reason I am focusing too much on pace and decided to push it a little harder today even though I had just done a long run the other day. On my long run I had gotten a huge blister on my right foot. After the pain I went through with the one on my left foot, I decided not to pop this one. So it was just this huge balloon of a thing on my foot. I put on a blister pad before my run and took off. At about a half a mile I totally could feel it pop. It was disgusting. It hurt, I could feel the wetness, and each time my foot struck the ground I was in pain. Not enough pain to stop but just enough to take my focus away.

Shortly after that I came to the corner by Panera and I almost got hit by a car. I mean, I for real almost got hit by a car. I totally take full resposibility as it was my fault. For whatever reason I ran across the street after only checking one direction. Luckily the driver and I saw each other just in time. The poor old lady slammed on her brakes and I almost ran into her. (I do place some of the blame on lack of sleep, too much on my mind, and my stupid blister!) Anyway, when I was trying to stop so suddenly my ankle twisted and popped. When the lady pulled away I could barely walk across the intersection. Putting pressure on it killed and I was sure I'd have to call Jeff to pick me up. But then I thought about how much of a hassle it would be to load up the kids to come get me so I decided to try to "walk it off" all the while kicking myself for being so stupid. Well long story short after walking a block I tried jogging and eventually made the rest of the 6 miles. I hope I didn't just totally mess up my ankle but I think it'll be ok. Right now I'm icing my foot and I'll take advil before I got to bed.

Oh, want another gross blister story? When I took off my shoes, the blister pads had shifted and the sticky parts were attached to my blister. So once again as I was pulling the bandaids off, I was also ripping off my blister. And not just on one foot, but both. If anyone has any advice on products that actually work for extragigantic blisters, please let me know!
